Super solid. Very strong magnets. No complaints!

A small but sturdy key. No frills, just a switch that lets you switch the handedness. I bought this along with the MX-K2 keyer to practice with for a while before getting on the air. Perfect combo for less than $100.

Functional

I was a little disappointed that I had ordered a silver paddle, while the one that I received was the black one. But the paddle seems to be well made and appears to work fine. The base magnets are surprisingly strong.

Great for learning CW!

I'm using one of these paired with an MCT-73 morse code trainer and it works great! Before I got this keyer I was using a straight key and had a really hard time progressing. With this iambic keyer I was able to really improve my accuracy and speed, and I can now transmit at around 20 wpm. 10/10, would recommend!

Not as good as competitor's product

I try to do three or four POTA activations each month. I use an electronic "bug emulator" (analog, my own design) with my paddle. I currently have a TUMD paddle and wanted to see how a Putikeeg compared with it.

There were two disappointing issues with the Putikeeg unit.

First, the TUMD comes with a small steel plate (adhesive on the backside) that allows the plate to be placed on a clipboard or other surface. The Putikeeg paddle lacked such a plate. The mounting footprint for the two paddles is slightly different, so I would have needed to have a second clipboard set up specifically for the Putikeeg. Alas, no plate, no second clipboard.

Second, the force of the TUMD levers is a good match to the static forces required on my Vibroplex paddle. That's even when you get down to such matters as the push-back on the "dah side" being a bit weaker than the push-back of the dit side... The difference in forces is just like my Vibroplex aftrer I've adjusted it "by feel." (Forces on the TUMD levers and Vibroplex paddle were both around 20-25 grams, as measured with an ad-hoc hacksaw blade scale that was calibrated with a stack of 25 pennies.) The Putikeeg levers required around 150% as much force - it's a fairly "heavy touch" in comparison to the mechanical bugs.

I'm keeping my Putikeeg paddle on a 1/2"-thick steel base at my desk. But it's off to the side, not sitting "at the ready" among my various mechanical bugs. Meanwhile the TUMD paddle now lives full time in my POTA kit, along with the clipboard (and the steel paddle-mount plate) that form my operating desk when I'm operating portable.

I hope that Putikeeg takes this review as a suggestion for some improvements in what they offer to their customers.
